Latch key kid...

I spent the better part of three years locked in the bathroom at home after school because I was afraid that someone was breaking in our house. I was a latchkey kid and I never felt safe. Everything spooked me because of some previous experiences of creeps trying to get me. If there was a creek or a bump off to the bathroom I went to stay till momma got home from work. Once in the bathroom, the sounds were intensely magnified, and I became even more frightened. Then I saw Psycho and I refused to ever shower home alone for twenty years.

I think every one who has ever watched Psycho has had shower nightmares.... it still creeps me out if I'm alone!

BTW: I love the photo of the politician :D

Brian, you were not a latch key kid. You crack me up son. You had a great childhood, until I opened that damn flower shop. HaHa!

Your brother was the one that was the latch key kid and he was alone bc he did not like the flower shop. You are too funny!and of course you tortured him!!!!

Dawn- I had to change to politicain bc I did not want to say the party name as to not offend anyone. I am such a people pleaser?

bless your heart - you weren't alone. 40 percent of Generation Xers were latchkey kids. this experience was familiar to me. in telling this, you told a tale that resonates with millions.

...it was a rare experience for Boomers though, which suspect you are.
