Love is all we have...

The custodian at my church needs surgery and she can not afford it because she has no insurance. She works part time. She has gone through all the motions of applying for TANF, welfare, and is still waiting. I don't understand why the government would make her wait so long to get approved for surgery. She has a mass in her stomach and is in pain. On her day off, she will go and wait all day again for more applications and processing. This is how we treat those in need? I always have a soft spot in my heart for those in need, yet it is so frustrating to find help or support for those in need. I am remembering days long ago when people cared about those in need and helped one another.

It's sad isn't it? Although we don't have to pay for health care in Canada sometimes we have long waiting lists which can still compromise your health. We just don't have enough doctors.

I hope your friend gets the help she needs soon!

Dawn, thanks for the comment. That is interesting about your health care in Canada. How long does it take to get an appointment or do you just show up and wait? See all the new things I learn from you!

regular doctor appointments are only a matter of a couple of days usually... but to be referred to a specialist could take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on your particular problem. It took the full 6 months to get my mentally challenged sister in to see a psychiatrist. Obviously emergencies have preference. But what can you do??? I am still grateful that I don't have to pay!
