Mini challenge

Mini Challenge: she’ll be comin' round the mountain when she comes, pumpkin pie, yellow jacket, short-changed, life after 50

My Grandmoma was singing so loud that I could hear her from the back yard. She was singing "she'll be comin round the mountain when she comes" as she was preparing for a bountiful feast for family and friends that would soon arrive for the party. She cooked turkey and dressing, lots of delicious vegetables from her garden and baked Papa's favorite pumpkin pie for everyone. There was just one little problem. While Grandmoma was in the garden harvesting her vegetables for the feast, she was stung by a yellow jacket. Shocked and stunned, Grandmoma ran in to the kitchen to treat her sting with a paste of vinegar and baking soda. It always worked, but it did not work today. She hollered for Papa to give her some of his chewing tobacco to put on the sting. Finally relief. Since Papa had retired early, he had felt short-changed with his life after 50. He felt useful again helping my Grandmoma with her sting. Grandmoma was grateful and so was Papa as they celebrated his retirement with family and friends.

What a great way to to use the words. They seemed to fit in just perfectly.

Oh poor Grandma! I didn't know a yellow jacket was some sort of insect - if I had it would have made writing my story easier! Well done. :)

Akelamalu, it is a form of a wasp, I think and it really hurts to get stung. We may only have them in the south? Thank you for stopping by...Have a great day!

Hello Pam,
Thank you for visiting my blog for the blog blast for peace ;)
What a special story about your Grandmoma :) Though I don't envy being stung by a yellow jacket !
I unfortunately did not have the chance to know my grannies; both lived far away from me.It is a chance to have known your grandma.
