Gratitude Post # 2 ~ A Warm Home

I am thankful that I woke up this morning with heat in a nice warm home. For some, they will not have this opportunity. They live on the streets, or they have no money to pay for the electric or gas bill. They live in less than perfect circumstances and it hurts me to know that people are in need.

Lord, today I pray for those that have not what they need for basic life support. Please lift them up, take care of them and protect them. Amen

It is important to be especially thankful for the basics. Some people are so bad off.

Having our basic needs met is something we all too often take for granted. Even in our own country people are hungry and cold and homeless and need clothing. Yes, a warm home is definitely a gift to be grateful for...always.

Certainly a beautiful and heartfelt prayer. Very nice.

One of my favorite contemporary books is Street Lawyer by John Grisham. In that book, a recent law graduate learns what it is like to work with indigent people in a legal aid office. I worked with people like that for over 8 years and it was the best job I ever had.

Unfortunately it did not pay any money so I had to find a different job. But I still volunteer my time at the old legal aid office.

Take care.

It's all too easy to lose sight of the simple things that make our lives comfortable isn't it?

I enjoy inviting people to eat with us. No one is ever turned away. I would feel so badly if anyone ever left my home needing anything I could provide. We do indeed have much to be thankful for!
