News about Carmen

A few of you ask how Carmen was doing. I picked her up Saturday from the vet. I was happily surprised that she was doing as well as she was. She has one of those big collars on and it is somewhat hard for her to navigate through the doors. She acts and looks fine. The doctor removed half of the mammary tumor because there was not enough skin to stretch over and stitch.

We have to return in two months for another check up. The test results on the tumor will be back in about ten days. I guess we will go from there. Carmen was not spayed and I guess that the other surgery took precedence over it.

As I write this she is laying on the floor next to me asleep. At night she stays in the guest bedroom and sleeps like a queen on the king size bed. I took pictures of her and sent to my sister. She was relieved to see how well she was doing. I am thankful that she is taking her medicines because Sissy has trouble getting Carmen to keep the pill and swallow it. I covered the pill with a little peanut butter and she is looking for more.

I am thankful that she is doing so well. I am glad that nothing is oozing or bleeding because that would be gross. She gets to wear this lovely collar for ten days. I think she will be a champ at getting through the doors with this big collar on.

Another good note is that my granddaughter, Ali, phoned me this morning and she is feeling much better. Her big brother is sick now. I hope he won't be sick too long.

Poor Carmen and the collar of shame. I hope she's better, soon, and the pathology is negative.

Hi Pam,

Thank you for the progress report on Carmen. I hate those e-collars almost as much as pets do.

Ah, good old peanut butter - it never fails. (o:

Take care and have a wonderful Sunday evening. Can you believe we begin the 12 Days of Christmas tomorrow?

Hugs to Carmen
Hugs to you, dear friend.

Good for Carmen. Our dog had to wear one of these collars after a procedures and we didn't know weather to laugh or cry. She was funny trying to get around at times and other times she was just begging us to take off the collar. Poor things.

I'm glad Ali is feeling better, but sorry that her big brother is now sick. I too hope for a speedy recovery.

Have a terrific day Pam. Big hug. :)

Let's hope the report comes back all good. I'll be thinking positive thoughts. Poor little Carmen having to wear that collar...but it's for her own good :) She's a cutie. Glad Ali is on the mend and I hope her big brother is soon :)

What a sweet face she has.

Too bad peanut butter doesn't work for Mr Tucker. But at least he's resigned to having pills jammed down his throat twice a day.

Rudee, waiting is the hardest part. She is doing so well.

Joyce,THe Bear's Blog, Thank you for the concern for Carmen. I have never tried peanut butter, but it worked great.

Carmen says thank you for the hugs. Take care and I will come and visit you soon.

Gail, it is good to see that ALi and Carmen are both getting better. Thanks for comming by and checking on them.

Sandee, I agree with you on the collar. It has been tight quaters for Carmen to get around, but she seems to be adjusting. I remember Hot Dog, our male dog, didn't do so well when he got fixed. Suzie, our lab, did great.

It never fails that when one kid gets sick the other one does, too.
Ali is much better and I will call on her brother tomorrow to see how he is doing.

Thom, Thanks for the comments. Carmen is such a nice dog.I don't expect any trouble with her pathology report. I appreciate the good thoughts you are sending her way.

I can't believe I am so terrible at remembering those Christmas movie quotes, but I love the idea of your 12 days of Christmas.

Ali and her brother are better, I just hope their mommie doesn't get it.

Travis, I didn't know that Mr. Tucker had to take medicine forever. I hope he is good at taking it.

Here is what we do is to put the pill in the back of the mouth, then close their mouth and blow on their nose. It works everytime.

That poor dog....it must be so uncomfortable for him to move around with that collar. I pray she's better asap. I'm glad she has you guys b/c she's in great hands with people who really love her. Have a great day Pam...you're the best.

Aw bless her. I hope the news is good from the vets.

Glad to hear your granddaughter is feeling better and hope your grandson is better soon.

Sarah, I do love Carmen and I an glad that I could help my sister get her surgery. She is a great dog and is very smart too. Carmen does have a time negotiating through our house and all the furniture.

Akelamula, I tried to call the vet this am because Carmen through up. This vet doesn't return calls. It took me about three hours to talk with someone. It is frustrating to say the least.

I am glad the grandkids are on the mend.

Peanut butter is the perfect dog pill disguise, I think.
Too bad she has to wear the collar of shame for so long, hope she recovers well, as well as your grandkids...

JBR, other than a little throw up, Carmen is doing so great.

Milikki, the collar of shame has been a challenge for Carmen, but it is better than her chewing her stitches.

My grand kids are doing much better.

Dawn, peanut butter is a dog's best friend! Works every time.

Yolanda, thank you for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment.
Nice to meet you.

JBR, Carmen is doing great! She wears the collar until Monday. We should hear about the pathology next week.

I forgot to tell everyone that I met Sissy half way with Carmen in Louisiana and both are united again.

That was one happy dog and one happy Sister!

Thanks for all of your concerns about Carmen.

On a brighter note, my little grand daughter, Ali, got to perform her violin solo at the concert the other night. She played "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and my DIL said she did great.

Both kids are well, so I am nost thankful.

Peace and Love to you.
