Out with the old and in with the new

A few weeks back we had Hubs' cousin replace our old sliding patio doors with new French doors. This man is a master carpenter. I really enjoy seeing how he works so methodically.

Watching him take out the old door he is like a surgeon. He is so careful not to damage any of the old door. He nevers questions what to do next. (unlike the boss's boyfriend that we had before) The old doors are out and resting on the rails of the deck.

Hubs and I stand in awe of this man's talents.

He is such a professional in his work. Always with a smile on his face and a good sense of humor. You don't meet too many men that work as hard as he does. His wife also works hard. They both have full time jobs and work side jobs as well. I am in awe.
He loves his work and it shows. We will wait until he is availble from now on. He did this job on a Sunday afternoon. Just incredible. He is the one that built our deck.

His son is helping him. What a gift to pass on to your son?
Master carpenter.
There aren't many left out there.

The trim is the last thing he has to do.

The finished doors. Aren't they wonderful? They are E glass and that should help keep out the west sun in the summer time. Last summer the heat really did me in. I felt like a prisoner held hostage in my home. I had to keep the curtains closed in the afternoon because of the unbearable heat. It makes me very happy to have such a beautiful view. No curtains. I love it.
Definately worth the wait?

Reminds me of our original carpenter.

Beautiful. It always thrills me to see people using their God given talents. What a gift this gentleman has, and passing it onto his son - he is blessed.

Happy weekend, dear friend - happy weekend.

Wow, that is awesomely beautiful. What a great plus to your home. It really showcases your patio and beyond. I'd be looking out those doors all the time. What a view.

I'm always amazed at the folks that have such talents. We have a neighbor across the street that's so very gifted.

Have a terrific day Pam. Big hugs. :)

Fabulous! What a great job he's done.

It's fascinating watching a real carpenter at work isn't it? :)

Those are beautiful doors! I'm especially jealous of all of that greenery, and be still my little heart, the sun. I haven't seen the sun since last weekend.

I wish he lived closer to replace my door :)

There are not a lot of people who take so much pride and joy in their craft. My brother in law is on his way,but he is still an apprentice... few years off of being a master ;) He'll get there though, because he puts his whole heart into creating and crafting the perfect door, wall, deck, etc.

Rudee, we are lucky to have all of the pine trees. Once, we lived in Ohio, while it was so incredibly beautiful with the dramatic change of seasons, I forgot just how much I missed the south with all of its evergreens.

I am going to send you some sunshine. It was almost 70 today and so incredible. The down side is our hot and humid summers.

Lailani, you guys will do great replacing your doors. Are they single or double doors? Post pictures for me?

Jennifer, I can't believe what a difference these doors make. THe e glass blocks out the heat. I need light, too.

JBR, thank you my friend. It was fun to watch him.

Xmichra, your BIL will be a good carpenter one day though you may have to wait for him, it will be worth the wait.

Outstanding work. My stepdad is a carpenter. Although not technically qualified for master status, his work is methodical and excellent. For a hobby, the finished pieces he creates are store worthy.

He did a bookcase and fireplace enclosure that looks like it was built as part of the house. I enjoy watching him create, because it reminds me that details are important.

Travis, then you know the quality of a master carpenter. Do you build things as well?

I am facinated by construction.

I have a BIL that has a PHD. in Phsyics and his hobby is making furniture. He is so talented. Sounds like your Step-Dad is too.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Once again I love the music that plays on your blog.
I haven't been visiting too many people. Trying to get in the habit of making the rounds again not because I think I should but because it lifts me up so much!
I love the doors. How wonderful to keep out the heat without needing to block the beautiful view.

Nice!

Hi. :) Good to be back. :)

psssst ... what IS "E" glass?

Does it also keep out the cold?

Finding Pam said...

Wendy, how great to hear from you!
Low E glass stops the heat, not so sure about the cold. See the site on it for a good explanation.

I am glad that you are visiting again. How have you been? I hope you are still painting those beautiful mureals.

Hugs to you.
