Candy went to see her family doctor on Monday as well as starting back to therapy with a new therapist. They both have a plan for her. She is to stop all sugar, start eating three meals a day(sometimes she does not eat), make an appointment with a psychiatrist, start going to bed at 10:00, start exercising. She will also go to therapy twice a week and her family doctor started her on Cymbalta while titrating off of the Paxil.
That is a pretty big order for her to work on. She does sound hopeful. I told her to just take baby steps and that no one expects her to accomplish all of this at one time. Rather, this is a guide to her to improve her health. She also needs to stop smoking.
It is a huge relief to know that she wants to get better. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she takes steps to get her life back.

I guess that means there isn't anything to update about?
Have a terrific day. :)
Sorry about that Sandee, I hit the wrong button.
Prayers - always. It seems a lot but once she begins it will just become routine. IT WORKS!
Blessings
Prayers for Candy as she takes her baby steps to getting better. Prayers for you as you support and encourage.
Make it a great day!
HI PAM-
sounds like a good plan - and so it begins. Sending positive energy and all good thoughts.
Love to you and yours
Gail
peace.....
Pam sounds like a start, a good plan. Lifting your sister up in prayer. Blessings.
Wow. That is a hard plan when you are in the downward spiral for sure. I know first hand without the added pressure from depression that deep, changing your life style (because that isn't a mear diet) can be super hard to do unless you are 100% focussed.
The zero sugar thing is in particular the most difficult task, as it is in almost everything. Did the doctor limit her sugar intake from produce as well? or just refined or added sugars? That is a huge difference. I don't know how much it can help, but there are a lot of really great (and easy) recpies out there for diebetics (i have some on my weight site) that are very low or have no sugar. I can help you find whatever you need (she needs) if you'd like a hand.
Also, (omgosh i am rambling lol) if she needs to have something sweet almost all doctors approve of using stevia (it's a natural sweetner), so she should ask about that. Stevia comes in liquid and powder format, so it's easy to use in everything you'd use sugar in.
Xmichra, I think the doctor is talking about refined sugars. She still drinks sodas and eats really bad. THe sugar makes her pain so much worse.
I would love some receipes for diabetics since I am one. Nothing taste very good any more. I don't eat fast food anymore and only eat what I cook.
I know that is a lot for Candy to do. I don't think it will happen over night, but rather slowly with changes that she can stick to.
I appreciated all of your knowledge and help with her.
Hugs,
Pam
I'm so happy for you both. This is progress :)
Pam, I have a few cook books that I have purchased as well over the last year, and it has some great recpies in it. I will take some time to type them out in the week and send them to your e-mail. You have my weight loss site, that also has good no-sugar recpies but they are also no starch, so you can add things like brown rice or whole wheat pasta if that is too lean a program.
sugar, i beleive, is the worst food to break free of. it's a high you don't notice, but crave when it's gone. Especially for depression. I wish her all the courage and strength I can for candy to beat that addiction.
Xmichra, thank you so much for the receipes. I agree with you about sugar. It is really bad for you.
This is a good reminder for all of us to acknowledge the value of good basic self care.
I hope your sister will be able to put all the pieces together!
Thoughts and prayers.
Ferd, thank you so much for the prayers.
That does sound like a lot for her to take on. I hope she is not feeling overwhelmed.
Melissa, I hope she won't either, but then again, that is why I am here. Little baby steps.
