2013 in review

I don't know where this year has gone to, but it certainly has flown by.  I use to struggle with how fast time went, but I have adjusted to it. It is all good. This last year saw many firsts for me and challenges that brought about change.

I started out the year with trying to loose weight.  By May, I had lost ten pounds, but then proceeded to gain weight. The next six months I gained eight of the lost pounds back. I am not sure what happened, but I lost it again, in Sept.  All in all I have lost thirteen pounds.  Way short of the thirty pounds I had set as my goal. I am not going to beat myself up for this.  Instead, I will keep on working on it.
Baby chicks grew up to beautiful chickens and layed lots of eggs.

Our beloved Bruno died in April.  I miss him so much.

We had so much fun watching the ducks grow up and finally go to the pond.

In April, Hubs bought me chickens and ducks for my birthday.  You know how much I have enjoyed them? We planted roses, crepe myrtles and all sorts of pretty flowers.  We dug a new flower bed this summer and planted it with roses, pansies, petunias .  I went to see my sister in at Easter, taking a complete meal to them. It was fun to be with them.  In May, we started planning our kitchen remodel and we didn't finish up until Nov. It was a long and difficult process, but so worth it in the end.
 Hubs doing something? Maybe...aggravating me?

We have had a year of fixing and repairing things.  A new AC/HV, a new car, we had a front porch built and covered it and the back deck and the house in metal. We have painted and patched and we are still not through.
 The ducks all grown up.

Next on the list is fencing off our property. Cutting and burning. It never ends.  Did I mention that Hubs had shoulder surgery?  He is still in rehab and has injured it again.  Will the man ever learn?   Today, we decided to build another pole barn for the farming implements.  Then in the Spring it starts all over with the garden.

I really have not blogged.  I didn't have much to write about.  Looking back I see how busy we were. We had Thanksgiving, but forgot to get the family picture.  The good news is we have so much fun together, that we decided to get together on the fourth of July.  We will cook hot dogs and hamburgers and eat water melon.  We hope to cut fire wood then and send them home with it.

Our oldest son and his wife and kids came in and stayed a full week with us at Christmas.  I shopped until I dropped and cooked until ran out of ideas. Our youngest son worked Christmas eve.  I don't have any current pics of him. He moved to Shreveport, La.  He is working for south Bossier parrsih as a fireman and will continue his paramedic training in the new year.

All in all it has been a really good year. I forgot to mention that I got my teeth crowned.  It fixed a lot of problems that I had and I have a beautiful smile now.  In January, Hubs and I will celebrate our 42 anniversary.  Drop me a note and tell me how your year went and what you are going to do in the new year?

My best friend came to see me.

Sounds like you had a great year indeed. I remember some of these events and others not at all.

Thirteen pounds gone is a good thing. Mighty good thing.

Next year we'll be boating like we do year round. We so enjoy being on the water. We too are going to have a new fence put up next year. Ours is pretty sad.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs. ♥♥♥

Hi Pam, I've not been around your blog much, but today I found you again... and it was such a delight reading this post. Truly a delight to see how your year went. Losing thirteen pounds over all is better than zero, so I want to encourage you. Your dear Bruno looked so handsome in the photo... I know what it's like to miss a beloved pet. I love ducks... your new kitchen is beautiful, so is the deck... our Heavenly Father has been taking good care of you and your family. Blessings on your new year!

HI PAM- looks like 2013 was good, all things considered. I loved all the updates and pictures. :-) We can't believe a whole year has passed since we moved here. We fell very much at 'home' in our cozy bungalow. We have adjusted well and are very grateful. My health has remained about the same. Some flare-ups and things to manage but all in all, I am meeting the challenges and embracing my freedoms. I got a scooter!
So good to "see" you.
Love Gail
peace...
Happy Healthy New Year

Gail, I can't believe you have been in your new home a year already. I am glad that you are comfortable there. You have a great attitude, and I know your scooter will help you. May God bless you and yours. Love and peace be with you.

Diane, thank you for stopping by and commenting. I have a lot more weight to loose. My total since I started is fifty pounds and I have at least that much more to loose. Happy New Year to you.
