Little blessings

I have worked most of this week at the flower shop, thus no posts, thus not much to write about either. It has rained a bunch. Trees are down in the next town and as far as I know it doesn't look good. We were just lucky and I am thankful.

Work has been great and I am blessed to be busy with lots of floral orders. Autumn is arriving in the store with potted mums and beautiful fall arrangements. Where I work is in a two story one-hundred year old house that has been added on to from time to time, thus it can not apply for an historical site. The front porch is lovely and decorated with large Mexican pottery ware, mums, rocking chairs, grapevines over the door with little twinkle lights. It is so charming that you know the rest of the store will be wonderful. In fact it is the only nice place to shop for anything in this little small town. We have a good feed store, Dollar store, the vet, a bank, a really bad grocery store and a few eateries. Ten miles south of where I work there is nothing. We are deep in the woods.

It was such a pleasant surprise to find this little jewel of a shop. The shop is one of the nicest gift shops with all kinds of unusual and delightful gifts, jewelry, clothes, purses, candles with antiques adorning the old lofty walls. People come from all over to shop here. There are two wonderful hairdressers and tanning beds. They also sell antique roses, stone ware, birdbaths, and much more.

I am the floral designer for this adorable shoppe. My boss is so nice to work with and it is nice to not be in charge or own this shop. Even better is everyone is like family there. I am so thankful for this little job. I don't need the job, but the job keeps me busy.

Since our move, I now have eight friends in this little tiny town. When I get down about how much I miss my home town, I think of my job. No stress, fun place and interesting folks to be around. It is a little lagniappe, a little something extra special for me and I feel blessed.

That is such a blessing to have a job that is good for your heart and lets you connect in this new place.

I am starting a new job next week so have been super busy trying to wrap this old one up. But the new job is by all counts a very difficult one and very stressful, so we'll see how it goes!

Aphra, I know what a stressful job can do to a person. Take extra special care of yourself.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment.

Big Hugs and good luck.

Cherie for me the work is the art of the flowers. I studied art in college and this is a quick fix for me. Plus, I absoutley adore flowers... they intoxicate me.

You know Sandi, there is also a lot of dirty work involved with processing and all the stems that are wasted, but for the most part it is fun.

My fingers stay green from the work.
