And it's winter before we know it.... This came to me via email and it sure says it all.
You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went.
I know that I lived them all...
And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams... But, here it is. the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go? I remember well.. seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like... But, here it is...my friends are retired and really getting gray...they move slower and I see an older person now. Lots are in better shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant... but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will..I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over...it’s over....Yes , I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done ,,,,,things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done.
It's all in a lifetime....So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!!Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!
You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for good today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!"Life is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after.
Make it a fantastic one." LIVE IT WELL!!----ENJOY TODAY!!!!-----DO SOMETHING FUN!!!----BE HAPPY!!!----BE THANKFUL!!!!! ----LOOK GOD RIGHT IN THE FACE AND GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY AND PRAISE…

I like that. Being in the late autumn of my life I have learned that you have to live life in crescendo and enjoy every minute.
I forget to enjoy it all sometimes. Especially when I am hurting.
Uhm, winter? Winter is the late 80s, to me. I consider myself to be in the autumn of my life. I'm not going to say here how old I am but winter - no way. Maybe I'll hit winter on my death bed☺ As long as I can breathe and walk and eat and not pee my pants and know my name I'm good☺
I'm 58 so I don't know if I'm in my winter or not. I feel 20 so there you have it. This is so very true though and for many it's not age related. We are given just so much time and no more.
Have a terrific day and weekend Pam. Big hug. :)
It's a good thing I really like winter. Beautiful post.

HI PAM-
Well written piece. I too believe in the life cycle and I have a different understanding of "Winter". I experience my Winters as quiet reflective times, when I go inward and explore where I want to direct my life. It is a time to look back over what has worked and not worked and to step into the light again with a renewed wisdom. Winter is a time to rest also, to quiet ones' mind and heart and soul so one can "hear" the inner voice. I see Spring as the season defined by "something new" having entered my life", and summer as the season where "I have arrived at a major decision or understanding", and Autumn is a season of "change".
Enjoy your Winter, and all the seasons of your life.
Love Gail
peace.....
This is a wonderful post and so true. :) Thanks for sharing this my friend. It's good advice for everyone :)
Having reached 60 and just a week away from retiring I'm looking forward to Spring! :)
Great post Pam.
Mimi...your answer is priceless. I am laughing myself silly. Maybe you will hit winter on your death bed. LOL!
I like your attitude. Just don't pee your pants!
I guess I am not there yet, but some days it feels like it, then somedays I feel young.
Sandee, you will never get old. May you always feel twenty.
Nessa, I don't think you're winter yet.
Hey Gail, I like your take on winter. Excellent too!
Thom, this is some sage advice.
Akelamula, Happy Belated Birthday!
Congratulations on your retirement.
I still have a lot of things left to do in life.
Heh, I remember when I used to think 40 was old.
For some reason lately, I've been spending time worrying about how many more good years I have left with my Mom. This hasn't kept me awake since I was in the third grade.
It's autumn. But I feel the winter beckoning me....
Pam - this is a wonderful post my friend :)
Chickie, I hope that you have many more years with your Mother.
You are not 40 yet?
Hey Dawn, time goes by too fast.
Every day my life becomes more Winter. I understand fully what your saying.
Yes, Dr. John...but I am sure that you have lived your life to the fullest with no regrets.
Hi Pam - Just swinging by to say hello and have a great day. Big hug. :)
