What was I thinking?

It is the middle of the night and I have not fallen to sleep yet. I am on my third day of not sleeping because I thought I could stop taking my medicine for restless leg. I was wrong. I think I have more control over my body and mind so occasionally I will stop taking medicines. I hate taking medicine all the time. I like to try alternative therapy.

I have been going to a chiropractor for my knee and related problems. I have been so excited and in my efforts to attain a better and healthier life, I decided to go off my hormone replacement therapy. Maybe this was not a good idea? Or maybe quitting Dr. Pepper was the problem? Next I stopped my meds for my Restless Leg Syndrome.

What am I thinking? Tonight, or should I say this morning, I am not sure what I was thinking. I tend to be so intentional with my actions that often I regret those decisions. I tell myself I am stronger than the medicine. We will see?

I didn't sleep well last night either. I tend to stay up until I can't hold my eyes open because I hate to toss and turn. Last night was a "toss and turn" night. So I get how you are feeling.

I hope your system gets regulated soon. It may just take more time (and exhaustion will kick in eventually too).

Blessings to you!

RLS is a pain in the butt. If the meds help you rest, then take them.

Last night, I was expecting yet another wretched night running around the city like a crazy woman. When I left one appointment, I stopped and bought a latte in preparation for the night ahead. My phone rang exactly zero times and so I loaded myself with caffeine for no reason at all. At 3 AM, as I listened to the dog snore softly near my feet, I regretted that latte.

We should have had a pj party, I didn't sleep either. My asthma started acting up after gardening. Lots of mold in those old leaves I didn't get cleaned up before it snowed. I hate medications too, good luck in determining what you should or shouldn't do and a special {{{{{{HUG}}}}}} from me to you.

HI PAM-

Ya, lots of changes for ya, huh? Well, perhaps it you try stopping just one thing at a time you will see how it affects you and know which is causing what. :-)

Happy Spring
Love Gail
peace.....

I just take the medicines my doctor tells me to take. He's been very good about explaining why I need the medicines and what will happen if I don't take them. I'm better off taking mine.

I hope you get this sorted out soon honey. Super big hugs. :)

Thank you ladies for all the good advice...I really appreciate it. I think a lot of folks don't get a good night's sleep.

Jennifer I hate to toss and turn, but I hate taking medicine.

Sara, thanks for the understanding coomment.

Rudee, I don't know how you do that at night. I am sorry you did not get called out. Is that unusual not to be called out?

Oh DeEtta, that is horrible about your asthma. I hope that you are better soon. I am sending hugs to you. My sister is the same way with her asthma and mowing the yard. Take care.

Gail, I am going slowly on stopping the meds. This RLS is a nightmare, but I have to go every month to renew the script. It is such a rip off.

Thanks Sandee. Since our move I have not found a good doctor. I am a little bit leary of some of these doctors.

Hugs back to you and thanks for stopping by.

I never sleep well. I think to much. I think you think too much also when going to bed. It's a curse my friend a curse LOL :) If the meds help I would take them. :) Have a wonderful day :)

I slept crazy and then woke up more tired than ever.
My husband has restless leg and his soft pallet hangs too low so he cant breathe well. He wont take meds and BCBS wont approve the surgery he needs so we have not shared a room in over 5 years. It sucks.

Hey Thom...Wonder how I knew you didn't sleep? You may be right in that I think too much! LOL!

Ms. Givens, Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Does your husband have sleep apnea? Is surgery the only option? You are too young to be in another bedroom. I use earplugs for my husbands snoring.

Pam, I am not an expert in this area and my simple advice is take it slow. But then again, as I stated I do not suffer like you do in this area. ((((Pam))))

Oh dear Pam, I know exactly where your coming from. I take medicine to sleep for restless leg. I tried going off of it a couple of years ago with disastrous results. Of course I couldn't sleep, plus I started getting constant muscle spasms in my leg muscles. Something that has gotten a little better but has never gone away....so I am stuck with the medicine. Oh well... such is life.

I hope you get some rest soon.

Crochet Lady... I gave in last night and took the medicine. I slept really well, but I was groggy this morning. What do you take for your RLS?

Hey Dawn...Thanks for the comment. I hope all is well with you. Hugs back to you!

When it comes to discontinuing a medication I beleive that one has to really plan it out, decide what actions they need to take which will negate the need for the medicine and then proceed from there.

A few years ago I stopped taking my medication for the arthritis in my knee to be rewarded a week later with a knee that seized up for THREE WHOLE DAYS! I learned my lesson. :(

Mark, thank you for the advice and for stopping by and commenting.I don't like depending on a medicine for the rest of my life. I will work on stopping another day.

Akelamula, This is a long standing proble I have with medicines. I try to use as little as possible. I know it sounds crazy.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
