The Queen's Meme #41 ~ The Nosy News Meme

The Nosy News Meme

Welcome to The Queen's Meme #41

So much crazy news out there lately -from sunbursts to outbursts to implants to supplements. Here are a few topics spinning off the newswire.. Sound off and tell us how you really feel about it. Your opinion counts.

1. What would you do about the BP oil spill? Give us your suggestions.
There is no punishment great enough for the CEO of BP and BP and Haliburton. This has done horrible damage to the coast line, marshes and the estuaries of Louisiana and will destroy the delicate Ecosystem for years. Pelicans were once on the endangered list and after this catastrophe I imagine they will be as well as turtles and other animals. It makes me mad. I want someone to pay for all of this and clean this stuff up. I heard today that the well was damaged from the get go because of short cuts made in cementing. Just to save a few bucks. BP does not understand what they have done in my opinion. I hope they have to pay out the waazooo!
Being from north Louisiana, I love the beauty of the Gulf and all that it offers including the incredible seafood and the love of life and the way of their world in the southern part. The charm of southern Louisiana is like no other place in the world. I hate what this will do to the fishermen and shrimpers and their livelihood. I have kept quite as long as I could.

2. Tipper and Al Gore are calling it quits.
If forty years of Al was not enough for Tipper, then I don't know what else it could be. I guess the just grew apart...

3. It’s hot! The heat index topped 104 degrees today in some parts of the United States. How is the weather in your part of the world?
I live in east Texas and it is so hot right now with about 90% humidity. I was not made for this type of heat. There is nothing to compare to Texas Heat. Even when plants are grown for full sun exposure, they do not know about Texas Heat. It has to be the hottest place in the world.
This heat could kill person if you stayed out too long. Now if you are acclimated to this horrid heat like my Hubs, then just drink lots of beer and water. If your like me, then you go out early or late at night and run from one place to the other. Jeez...it is so hot!

4. Do you think smoking should be banned in public places?
Sorry to all you smokers, but I used to smoke and I did not smoke in public places. It is just so gross to smell smoke while trying to enjoy an evening out. I feel sorry for the wait staff. That was the dumbest thing I ever did. If you smoke please try to quit. Please? My mother died of Lung cancer and she smoked for 44 years. It is so painful to see someone you love die that way. OK..I am off my soapbox.

5. Unemployment from the top down: Do you think President Obama has a good chance or no chance of being re-elected in the next US election?
I did not vote for him and I don't think he has a chance of being re-elected. He has even called himself a one term President. There are no qualified candidates.

6. What??! Actor Gary Coleman’s wife reportedly sold private pictures of the deceased actor on his deathbed.
I can't go there because she is sorta creepy and scares me.

7. Texting while driving. Do you? Don't you? Will you? Won't you?
Have you seen how bad I drive? I do not text and drive. Never will. I can't even talk on my steering wheel thingy. I am going back to pulling off the side of the road to talk or make a call. I scare myself.
8. Lindsay Lohan. Has she been treated fairly or unfairly by the legal system?
DENIAL...totally in denial and I am so over her and her addictions.

9. The Sarah Palin rumor mill caught wind of her recent decision to have breast implants….so said the reporters-who-need-to-get-a-job-and-stop-making-up-news. She has denied the earthshaking allegations. Was this really news?
Well she said today that those are real. I would rather see her get a better hair do and some new glasses so she doesn't look so stupid. Really folks? Who cares?

10. An asteroid is supposed to hit earth this Friday. Are you prepared? I must have missed this on Entertainment Tonight. How would you prepare for an asteroid? I think I will go out of town. LOL! Besides this Texas heat will do me in before the asteroid.
Next question please?

Some great viewpoints here. It makes you think how the news would report a comet story.

I knew there was a reason I am taking Friday off.

Jean-Luc...haven't you seen those movies about asteroids? I am sure it would be just like that! LOL!

Nessa...I am glad you are taking Friday off. Watch out for that asteroid. Hahahaha!

I hope Tipper finds someone worthy of her. Al wasn't. He is/was boring!!!

Smoking is banned in public places in California. I'm happy about that too.

How do you prepare for an asteroid? Have a party on Thursday night? Good grief.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

Sandee, that sounds like a hurricane party as well. It is good to know that smoking is band in California.

Thanks for stopping by, I just left your blog. :)

Yui... thanks for leaving the comment. Much appreciated.

Hi Pam! Wow...where do I start?! First I just want to say 'thank you!' for visiting my blog today...I left you a message on there about the song you liked. There's an asteroid going to hit earth this Friday?! Where the heck have I been?! Maybe it's good not to listen to the news sometimes LOL. It's been hot and humid here in south central Kansas too and like you I wasn't born and raised with it like my hubby was. He can go out there and work off and on all day other than coming in for a chip/diet pepsi break. I came from a place where our summer temps averaged around 78 and got up to around 100 once in a while but only lasted a day or two. You had to put a sweater or jacket on in the evenings! Now that makes for a nice summer let me tell you. Anyway...I hope you weren't hit with all the rain and flooding lately. Nice Blog you have! Take care....Maura :)

Maura, thanks for the song title and artist. I will add it to my music if you don't mind?

Your farm sounds wonderful. I was born in Louisiana, but we have traveled all over due to Hubs stint in the Air Force. We moved out in the country about 1 1/2 years ago for Hub's job.

While I love the country we still have so much work to do. We had a pond dug and are still waiting for rain to fill it up. No those storms missed us. Where you grew up sounds perfect with those temps of 78 degrees.

Our oldest son is stationed in Colorado Springs. We traveled through Kansas to see him and I was amazed at the beauty of the sunflower and corn fields.

Your blog is lovely and I look forward to reading much more.

Cooper, thanks for stopping by. Watch out for the asteroid...Ha!

Good answers all of them. I especially agree that there is no punishment great enough for those responsible for the oil spill catastrophe

I really liked reading your answers!

I'm with you on all of them! For #3 I'd change "Texas" to "Florida" though. I almost melted today.

I am agreeing on your answers. My anger stems from how BP does not own up to how much damage they have caused.

Mielikki,I think time will tell the full story of how well the Gulf Coast recovers.

Chickie, I do remember how HOT Florida is, but at least you have beautiful pool. All I have is a little wading pool.LOL! Our power went out today and egads....this is the 2nd time in less than a month. They blamed it on Swepco. We are on a podunk electric co-op.

Hello Betty, I am glad you concur with my answers. I so appreciate your stopping by and leaving me that little comment. Big Hugs to you.

My brother lived in Midland, TX a long time ago. We went to visit and thought I was going to die. It was like walking on the surface of the sun while being drenched in steam.

Also experienced the wildest thunderstorm I ever remember while I was there.

I'm with you on the oil spill. it's heartbreaking what's happening to the wildlife and even the people who make their living from the waters....

Yep...no smoking in public places. It's a fact...people die from 2nd smoke.
Stay cool....and have a great weekend.

Jeff, I love your description of the Texas HEAT! I live way east of Midland and it is a different kind of Hot here. Texas heat is not for the faint of heart.

Sarah, thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting on the Queen's Meme. I hate to see what has happened to my home state of Louisiana, the animals and the people.

Now there is 3rd hand smoke from the smoke on smoker's clothes. It is all nasty.
