Computer Help?

Does anybody have a commenter that has managed to mass produce the same comment all at the same time on your blog. Worse yet, I don't even understand the language. I wonder if there is a way (here is where I need your help) to mass eliminate the comments? Right now all I can do is go into comments and single each one out and delete.

This is so insane that a creep would do something like this. Hence I had to enable comment moderation. Just checking around to see how you solved the problem. His moniker is Somebody.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Okay I'm tired. Anyway it sounds like you have a spammer. I've got comment moderation set at anything older than four days. That's cut down my spam to almost nothing. Spammers usually go for your old stuff. It's easy to find it if you have comment moderation set for so many days.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

I think that you are right about spammers. How do I get rid of it on my older posts?

I bet you are tired. Did your trip start today? I hope you have so much fun, Sandee.

Thank you for the help. I will go in and change the number of days.

Hi,

I think Sandee's advice is excellent. I am going to change my time frame too, I have it set for 7 days. No, I don't know of a way to mass delete, but I am very new at all of this. I see you have comment moderation enabled, me too. Hopefulyl that will help.

I am so sorry this has happened to you.

Hugs,

Thanks Joyce for the confirmed information. I am not very good at all of this, I hit and miss a lot, but I keep on trying to improve.

Thanks for the hugs from Prudence and her sister. I think I have just taken comment moderation off. So I better go and figure out what I have done.

I'm not sure what you are asking either. But it sounds to me like spam. I would, like Sandee said turn on comment moderation or my friend, check out Akismet. I don't know if it works on Blogger but you might email them and ask them if they do and can help you get it installed on your blog. It's a great spam blocker. Hope this helps :)

I'd take Sandee's advice too if is a big problem. I like to keep my posts open up for those who have never visited my blog and find a post that they connect with, be it last week or last year. Definitely put the moderation on where they have to enter a "Captcha" phrase to submit a comment. That should help!

HI PAM-

I think you have received the best advice possible. That is so unfortunate that someone tried to influence your loving blog.
Love to you
Gail
peace and hope.....

Tho, Lily and Gail, thank you for your advice as I appreciate it so much. We do have spam blocker and security in place, but I think all this happened before I added my comment moderation.

I am sorry that I am not better able to explain the problem. I don't think like most folks. I guess it is the artist in me.

I tell you...Hubs thinks I speak a foreign language. I am the one that never follows directions. So I get in a few jams sometimes. My girlfriends don't have a problem understanding me. LOL!

OK, well I thank you all. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
Bunches of hugs to you all.

I also do what Sandee does after four days. I started getting the viagra spammers even.

Sorry you are being spammed attacked!

Wow, sounds like a problem...don't think I have any answers for you but hope you get the help you need.

Yup... you got spammed. Mine was always in chinese characters and he went for the older posts but then he got brave and started on the newer ones... so now I leave comment moderation on at all times. What else can you do?

Sorry this happened to you Pam :(

JBR and Crochet Lady, thanks for the comments.

Dawn, How the heck do I get rid of it? Will it hurt my computer? Just curious that's all.

Lovely photo today on your blog.
Thanks my friend for the comments.

Hi Pam, I too was getting that spam stuff and did like Sandee said. Once you do that, if you get any spam it will show up on your dashboard as "comments to be moderated" and then you can delete as needed all in the same place. Once you do this you should get less and less spam comments. I haven't had one in a while now, but I'm knocking on wood as I say that.

Here's something strange, I thought I was following your blog and just notice tonight for some reason my blog stopped following yours. Computer stuff can be crazy sometime...

Blessings, have a great day!

Using wordpress I can mass delete spammers, I also have a ban plug in so that I can keep them from coming back and causing more problems. I am not sure if there are any similar things you can use with Blogger.

Spammers are a pain in the proverbial a***! The only way I know to delete the comments are individually sorry. If you find out how to block delete them please let me know. x

I've gotten those spammed comments before. I enabled comment moderation for posts older than 7 days. That way I can do a mass rejection of those comments, and then it's easier to delete individual comments on the rest of the posts that are only a week old.

As far as I know, the only way to get rid of it on older posts is to individually delete them. I'd just ignore those. I'm not expert, but I don't think you have to worry about hacking or viruses from them.

Debra, I thank you for following my blog again! My computer has a mind of it's own....haha!

Melissa...I would not have a clue on Wordpress. I hope you are feeling fine today. Thanks for the information.

Akelamula, I thought that was probably the only way to delete them. Those buggers. I enjoyed your vacation.

Travis, I had my comment moderation at 14 days. You realize that I don't know what I am doing? I did change it. I feel better knowing that it is not so invasive. I wonder how they mass comment like that? Have a great weekend.

Thank you all for your quick response. Sometimes in the night when I am having computer problems, I have no one to ask these questions. You are the greatest and I appreciate all of your help.

that's awful Pam. Maybe you can email blogger and tell them what happened and they can help you fix it...
