A good night's sleep

It's amazing what a good night's sleep will do for you. I have had some trouble getting to sleep, but alas, I am sleeping. And I am thankful, very thankful indeed for sleep. I started using my ear plugs again because I am a light sleeper. Hubs sometimes snores even with his Bi-Pap machine. Cats meow in the middle of the night, my dogs bark at every little thing and then there is the light from the windows that inhibits my sleep, especially when it is a full moon.

Yes, I admit it, I am a light sleeper. Sort of a princess and the pea kind of girl. Everything needs to be just right for me to fall asleep. No noise, no light, a cool bedroom (temperature that is) soft sheets, just right pillow, prayers said and then off to a night of blissful sleep. The planets line up and the ocean's tide must all be aligned for a restful sleep. Not really, but sometimes it feels like that to me.

I am hopeful that my sleep deprivation will succumb to a restful night's somber sleep. Yesterday was the first time in weeks that I felt really good. Blood sugar in control really makes a difference. A good night's sleep makes an even bigger difference. I did something that I have been dreading to do for a while. I cleaned house. After forty years of cleaning our home, not to mention keeping our childhood home clean, I am just tired of cleaning. There are only so many ways I can make cleaning fun or pretend it is fun.

I do love the end results. Everything spic and span, rightfully in its place, order and a clean house makes me happy. I know I am strange like that, but what I arrive from it is a sense of peace and calmness. It is my way of keeping control of things. Ooh, that is a bad thing, but it is who I am.

I started in the kitchen clearing Hub's clutter off every counter top. He just loves to keep his things out of order. I have to prod him every now and then to pick up his stuff. As I clean, I remember why I like to clean. I am one of those persons that likes order not chaos. I think everything should have a place. I sometimes succeed and sometimes I don't, but that is what I strive for. I struggle why people don't put things back in its place. To each his own, but my own is created from order and cleanliness.

I swept, vacuumed, mop, dusted, folded clothes, cleaned the master bathroom, straightened up, put away, and even cooked supper and did all the dishes as well. My heart sings a happy song from this house work. I hope today will be as fruitful as yesterday. I made out my list of things to do. I am just going to take it one chore at a time to get the rest of the house in order. I know it sounds like my house is a total mess, it is not a huge mess, but in my mind I am not happy with it.

Our oldest son, his wife and family are moving to Montgomery, Alabama later in March. They will be here on or about the 19Th of March from Colorado Springs, Co. It is time for Spring cleaning before they come. Time to freshen up the guest bedrooms and finish organizing things left undone.

All I can say is thank you for listening to me drone on about my sleep problems. I really appreciate your comments, support, prayers and love. I do believe that is what keeps me going. Thank you for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day.

Wow, along with some wonderful sleep you're doing your spring cleaning already. I've been doing the very same thing. A couple thing on my to do list today and I'm pretty much done. Got to start packing tomorrow.

I'm thrilled that you got a great nights sleep. It does make all the difference in how you feel all day long.

Have a terrific day and a big hug coming your way. :)

HI PAM-

I am SO glad you had some well deserved and needed sleep. phew. Blood sugars play a big part in restful sleep verses restless nights. So it looks like you definitely have things in balance. "YAY"!! :-)
About two years ago I gave my husband 4 women for Valentine's Day - 'hee-hee', and by that I mean "cleaning ladies". Skipp always did the cleaning when I ws at work on Sundays but since my illness and his change in work schedule I decided to splurge on a cleaning ladies. They are WONDERFUL!! they come every 2 weeks and clean from top to bottom, then even clean Gracie-Blue's food and water dishes. I/we love the service and adore them all. They are from Mexico and Guatamala.
Enjoy your visit with your son and amily come March - and keep feeling better, k?
Love you
Gail
peace.....

A good night's sleep is the best thing ever. Not always achievable but when you do it's the BEST!

Hi Friend,

We forget how refreshing a good night sleep is until that dreaded - sleepless night.

So glad to hear that you are refreshed and looking forward to family coming for a visit.

Blessings,

Sandee,It is hard to get motivated on Spring cleaning, but once I do I love it.

Thanks for your comments about my sleep. I feel so good.

I am sure that you are getting so excited about your trip. I can't wait to hear all about it and see pictures of all of your bloggy friends.

Hugs back to you, Sandee.

Gail, I am so thankful for a good night's sleep. I never know how long things will stay in balance.

How wonderful that you have four cleaning ladies. That must be worth a lot because it saves you bothmfrom doing the house work and you can both spend more time together.

I hope you have a great day.
Peace and love,
Pam

Akelamula, you are so right about that. I hope all is well with you.

Joyce @ The Bear's Blog, your comment must have sneeked in while I was replying.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. You are so very right about a good night's sleep.

I feel so much better. I am going to do as much as I can while I feel good. Yes, I am looking so forward to our son's visit. They are taking our travel trailer as they may have to stay in it until they find a place to live.

Love ya.
Pam

The "Princess and the Pea" made me smile. I always tell Dave I can't have wrinkles in the bed because I am the Princess and the Pea and feel every lump. I have even woke him up in the middle of the night to make the bed.

Glad you are getting some sleep.

I'm glad you finally got some sleep!!

I cleaned my house like crazy this weekend too, even though I was sick. That is my issue, staying in bed isn't a thing that you catch me doing. I always end up cleaning something when I'm ill...lol...

DeEtta, you know exactly what I am talking about? Hubs and I don't even sleep well away from home. I take my own sheets and pillow when I go visit anyone over night. I knew we were kindred spirits. LOL!

Xmichra, I am glad that you are getting better. When you work full time you don't always have time to be sick or clean house. Are you excited about going back on your HCG?

Take good care of yourself cause you don't want to get sick again.

Glad you're getting some sleep. I like to have a neat house too, but I have had to greatly alter my standards. I get tired of telling my three guys to pick up their stuff and then I get crabby and then I feel bad...so I live with lowered expectations and everyone is happier.

so glad you got some good sleep Pam...when I'm tired I'm no fun at all to be around. And cleaning the house...wow. Way to go...want to come over and do my place??? just kidding. Have a great rest of the week.

JBR, Yes it makes a huge difference. I can't get over how much better I feel. I am so thankful for this medicine.

Many blessings back to you.

Jen @ Crochet Lady, I love that you lowered your expectations and now everyone is happy. WIsh I had thought of that when our boys were still at home.

What worked for me was to let them keep their rooms any way they wanted. It was horrendeous sometimes, but I just closed the door.

I decided that I didn't want our sons to remember me as the mean old mom making them clean their room. Our maid used to just throw their stuff in the closet. Finally I just told her to not clean their rooms. Their stuff and their mess.

Sarah, believe it or not, but I do have enough energy to clean your house. LOL! It is amazing what sleep will do for you.

We're cheating in a couple of months. We've been doing our basic chores each night, so our place is clutter-free and rated clean enough for company.

It's probably not rated for a Mom visit, but it's good enough for friends.

But here's where the cheating comes in...we're calling The Maids for a top to bottom scrubbing in a couple of months. There are things we just don't bother with, like baseboards and window sills and stuff like that. So we'll get The Maids in here for that stuff.

Travis, that is so nice that you both do the chores at night. Around here, I mostly do the house and my Hubs does the outside yard and all. He does often help me inside if I ask him.

My former maid in our former town cleaned everything. She even did yards. She had a team of four ladies. Of course I paid a pretty penny for it but it was so worth it. I had her come to my new house to pre clean it before we moved in and then she came back to help me unpack. She was a blessing.

I don't think hiring someone is cheating especially when both of you work. Can you ever get your home clean enough for your mother?
