Random thoughts in the night

Here it's 2:40 in the morning and I am not asleep yet. I got up and decided to re-arrange my cabinet that holds my everyday dishes. This cabinet is not good for a pretty display and after two years I felt like I could take this on. Of course I am too short to reach into the top cabinet and I have to retrive the step ladder. I like for things to be displayed in a beautiful way.

It is odd what I can find to do in the middle of the night. After arranging it some what to a better look, I went on to play solitaire a while, then on to reading email, other blogs and now to writing. Tick tock goes the clock. Nothing is worse than not sleeping. I know many of you don't sleep as well. I agonize with you.

I did take a melatonin because the new medicine has not taken effect yet. I think it may have to build up in my system. Thankfully, I am getting sleepy now.

Miss Pam,

Do I have to come over and curl up with you so you will fall asleep?

Did you know that we teddy bears have a "special" effect on humans when they can't fall asleep?

Well, we do. We breathe in a special way so that you concentrate on listening and ...off you go.

I think you need an afternoon nappy time. Okay?

Heaps of Hugs

I used Melatonin as well. I am so very sorry Pam that you suffer this way with the sleep. When I cannot, I too go on the internet. Hoping tonight will be a better night for you.

It's been a long time since I had trouble sleeping. It's awful. Really awful and you always feel tired and irritable. I hope you medication kicks in soon.

Have a terrific weekend filled with lots of sleep. Big hug. :)

Joyce @ The Bear's Blog, I didn't know that about Teddy Bears. How wonderful that they provide such magical effects in their breathing.

I said my affirmations to God last night. A suggestion a blog friend made to me. "I am a child of God, I am loved, I am happy, I am stress free, and I see myself as thin." I try to give it all to Him each night so I don't have to worry about anything.

At least I am feeling better and not sick anymore.

Thank you Prudence for your kindness. Hugs to you girls and M as well.

JBR, my mother did not sleep, my sister does not sleep, and our oldest son needs very little sleep.
I wonder if it runs in the family? I sleep very lightly and even the light from a full moon keeps me up.

I feel your pain about sleep. I am thankful that I don't work full time like I used to. It wreaks havoc on your body and mind.

Here is to a good night's sleep for us both.
Hugs to you.

Sandee, thank you my friend for the sleep filled wishes. You are most blessed to sleep so well.

I am not as stressed out about the lack of sleep as I once was. I will sleep eventually.

Sandee, have a great weekend with this gorgeous weather.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog, Pam! You know what's funny? I was still up at 2:45 Am this morning! I had taken a muscle relaxer on Friday and had taken a HUGE nap that lasted till 7 PM...so I wasn't sleepy last night! I just read a book, though.

Have a wonderful weekend!

When I was younger I had several bouts with imsomnia, and always great difficulty finding a remedy. I tried melatonin, relaxation exercises, reading a boring book, etc, all to no avail. Eventually, I hit on the idea to stop worrying about it. Telling myself that I could survive and be happy no matter how little sleep I got. That probably wasn't literally true, but for some reason it relaxed me and I was able to sleep better after that.

Cindy, I think there are a lot of us night owls up at that time of the night. I hope you sleep tonight.

Thank you for coming by and commenting.

Nothing Profound, First I would like to tell you how much I love your blog. Your aphorisms are full of wisdom and much witt. I always look forward to seeing new post from you. Folks if you haven't read this blog it is a must.

I have come to the same conclusion that you stated. I used to fret about the lack of sleep. I would get anxious and upset over it. I am trying to let go of it.

The last few months have been brutal because of no sleep, but I am hopeful that I will get back to sleep at some point. Until then, I will try to make the most of my awake time.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. It is much appreciated.

DeEtta, most of the times I just read, but last night that cabinet was bothering me. I have avoided it forever.

Pam I haven't slept a night through in years. 2 - 3 hours tops and I'm awake. It used to drive me crazy but I've learned to make use of the time just like you do. My motto - I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Hope you get some rest soon!

I also suffer from occasional insomnia. It is particularly troublesome when the time changes in March. I live in the northwest, and my system never really adjusts to the glow of the setting sun at 10pm.

What I've learned to do is not worry about not sleeping. I turn on the lights and read. Or I watch TV. I'm sure you've come to understand that trying to force yourself to sleep doesn't work.

I guess what I'm saying is, try not to let frustration about not being able to sleep make it even harder to sleep.

Linda said...

At least you have your blog to keep you company! I feel your frustration just by reading your words.

I take Ambien, a scary but effective solution. It is pure bliss knowing a good night's sleep is ahead.

Sleep tight...

Dawn, I am sorry that you don't sleep also. I don't know how you can function on so little sleep. It is reaking havoc on me.

It was a lot easier when I was younger, but as I age, I need more sleep. Hopefully, this is only temporary.

Sleep well my friend. I tried to leave a comment on your blog and even you new blog, but it would not open all the way. I mean I got a blank page where the comments should have been. Maybe it was my computer. I will try again. I love your new blog. Beautiful photos of your work.

Travis, you are always so very positive and I really appreciate that quality in you. I keep telling myself that sleep is not all that it's cracked up to be, but I sure do miss a good night's sleep.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. I appreciate it.

Linda, I use to take Ambien, along with Zanax to sleep. I have been off of it for about ten years. If this doesn't work I may go back to it.

Thank you for sharing you thoughts about sleep. I am getting a littls sleepy, so I am going to go to bed.

Good night.

JBR, thank you for that hug. I slept a little better last night though it took me a while to fall a sleep. I set my alarm to get up.

Hugs back to you and thank you for checking in on me.

One of the good things about being retired is that if I can't sleep I can get up and do something without having to worry about getting up for work. ;)

Rudee said...

I hope you found some pleasant dreams.

My body doesn't start getting its act together until around 4PM. I do my best work, cleaning included, around midnight.

Finding Pam said...

Akelamula, You are right about being retired. I remember how hard it was to work when I didn't get any sleep. Sometimes I don't even remember driving home. I owned my own flower shop and often worked an eighty hour week.

Rudee, I still run best in the am if I get a good night's sleep. Before I had kids I would stay up til 2:00 and get going by 10:00. I think my body liked that rhythem.

I can't imagine even functioning at 4:00 in the morning. Are you back?

Sometimes all make jewelry in the middle of night but mostly I read when i can't sleep. It helps me get sleepy again.

Hope you can get some more rest. It is hard to function when you don't get enough.

Finding Pam said...

Jen @ Crochet Lady, I like that idea except I don't make jewlery. I could scrap book instead.

I usually read as well. Thanks for your comment.

I'm sorry for all the insomniacs out there. I'm almost ashamed to say I fall rapidly asleep, can be awakened by an urgent phone call from the hospital, and can fall right back to sleep after the issues have been addressed. I sleep 6-7 hours every night and always awaken refreshed, usually without the need of an alarm clock. Reading this post reminds me I should be very, very grateful for this, which I have taken for granted.

Finding Pam said...

Ferd, you are indeed a lucky man to be able to sleep so well. My Hubs is the same way while I just struggle with sleep.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Melissa, I don't know what happened to your comment. I would like to know the meds that adversly affect RLS.

Thank you so much for that information.
