Princess and the Pea

No one is our house has been sleeping well at night. Hubs back begin hurting at Christmas.  He slept in the Lazy boy for a week.  Then Hubs bought an air up mattress.  He says it is our bed which is a Dial a Number bed.  I admit I wasn't too hep on the idea when we changed mattresses.  I liked my old comfy mattress, but needless to say he got his way.  Fast forward to six years later.  Here's the problem.  I don't like the Dial a Number mattress either.

I am also a princess when it comes to my bed and boudoir.  If you sleep then you don't understand how difficult it is to sleep.  Believe me, it is a curse to be such a light sleeper and to be a chronic insomniac.  No lights, I must have cool temps, no TV, no noise, no cats, no snoring, no talking in your sleep, no sleep walking allowed either.  Seldom does that happen.

So we have sorta played musical beds for the last couple of nights.  Last night he removed the twin section of our Dial a Number bed.  His blow up mattress was about six inches above my bed.  His mattress will not stop sliding off the bed.  Of course the simplest thing would be to move out of our bedroom, but I'm not ready for us to sleep in separate rooms.  I always thought it was so sweet that my Hubs parents slept in the same room.  He slept in a queen size bed and she slept in a twin.  Besides it would be too lonely to sleep in separate rooms.  My grandparents and my mother and her husband slept in separate rooms.  I like the first option best.   So here's what we did.

Hubs took down our massive bed frame and moved it into the guest bedroom.  In the guest bedroom he took off the mattress and box springs and disassembled the frame.  He put together our massive bed frame in the guest bedroom.  So far so good.

Next he disassembled our Dial a Number beds.  Then he saved the bed's deck and put his blow up mattress on the deck and then I opted to have regular twin mattress.  We don't have any twin head boards.   I feel like I'm living in the fifties where parents slept in twin beds.

Here is the real princess...Baby, our cat.

I slept pretty good once I got to sleep.  Now I have to find some head boards for the twin beds and try to make it feel cozy.  My question is do you still sleep in the same bed?  The same room?

Hubby and I sleep in the same room and in the same bed. I love it too. It's great to wake up every morning to find him right there beside me. I agree it would be lonely to sleep in separate rooms.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. :)

The same room, the same bed, always no matter what. We have recently got rid of our water bed after 20 years, only because we were getting a lot of leaks and it became more trouble than was worth the comfort. Water Beds are EXTREMELY comfortable. We have swapped it for a Memory Foam mattress and it is comfortable too.

I agree with you that insomnia is a terrible affliction; though my own sleep is generally very good, I don't take it for granted, ever.
Hope your new bed arrangement works better for you.

I love my Tempur-pedic bed, but it's not for everyone. It was the solution for my back pain.

I hope your solution works for the two of you.

The title of this post made me smile. I have always been called the Princess and the Pea because I can feel every wrinkle in the bed. Has to be smooth. I have been known to get up in the middle of the night because the bedding wasn't right.

We sleep in the same room and same bed except when one of us if ill.
