The Queen's Meme #35 ~ The Gratitude Meme

Sometimes silly.
Sometimes serious.
Always fun!
Step out of the box.
Be creative.
Use your imagination.
No one's answers are quite like yours!

Sometimes life hands you pomegranates. You get wiser. Sometimes life hands you that icky lemonade. You get stickier. Sometimes life hands you a boatload of people who either enhance your journey in lovely ways or rock the boat off course just for the hell of it. You get an oar and row in your own direction. It happens to all of us. Either way, there's gratitude to be found if you're willing to look. Sometimes the conflicts are indeed blessings in disguise - you just don't know it yet. Sometimes the storm IS the thing you will one day bless while you wait for calmer seas.
Maybe not today, but someday.
So find some patience and hang on.
We all have something to be grateful for one way or another.
I found a few things this week. I hope you did too.

Step-Father # 2~Cool Daddy-O

Bill, my second step-father, was cool and we nick named him "Cool Daddy O". He and moma met at the dance studio, so we became dance studio kiddos. I never really knew much about Bill. He traveled a lot with his work. I don't think he liked children.

New step-father and a new house. Things were looking up for us. We lived in a real neighborhood and there was a bayou behind our house at the end of the back yard. It was a nice place to explore. My memories are few here because Bill and moma were not married very long. Maybe two years or so. He did not know what he had signed up for.

Random memories. Once, I caught a catfish and put him in the kitchen sink.I was always doing things like that because it was fun. Bill wasn't around, so my grandfather came over and got him out of the sink. I was a tomboy and loved to fish. I was always making concoctions to get rid of moles and varmint. I would use herbs and spices mixed up with all kinds of sauces, Worchester, vinegar or what ever was handy. I once fried an egg on the side walk to see if it would fry. It did. I painted my bike royal blue and myself as well. It took a lot of gasoline to get it off me and my clothes. I put a wasp nest in my jewelry box only to learn that is not a good thing to do, especially when you hear buzzing. I leaned a lot of things in those few years. Like how to behave.

My sister lived to torment me. She was mean to me. I was even meaner to her. Once she even kicked me in the stomach after my surgery. We fought a lot about mostly nothing. She put a piece of soap in my eye. My response was very in appropriate. I am ashamed to admit it but I did run after her with the first thing I could grab, a butcher knife. I chased her down the hallway until I ran it through the hollow core door of the bathroom. I am so thankful that I did not hurt her. It would take me years to even like her. She was sneaky and was always getting me in trouble. As for me, I was not even good at lying and you could see it on my face if I lied. I found it was better to just tell the truth. I tell you I got in some serious consequences for that incident.

I had a terrible temper. Bill taught me some valuable lessons about my temper. No matter where we were we where, if I had a tantrum he would sit me down on the floor and make me build card houses. If it fell, I had to start over again. I learned a lot about myself, but my sister still did things to aggravate me. She really didn't stand a chance against me because I was tough and she was all mouth and a big sissy. Funny though she pitched fits too, but got away with them.

I was not fat, but she loved to call me fat like Fats Domino, the singer. I don't know why I even let her comments bother me. We were so very different. I was neat and she was a slob. But if anyone tried to hurt her I was there to beat them up.After she came to live with us, my mother spent the next fifteen years trying to make it up to her. If she needed a dance outfit, moma would stay up all night to sew it for her. I know moma loved me, but I always felt slighted.

Bill and moma had lots of interesting friends. We learned all about yatch racing at the country club. We attended lots of dancing parties with all sorts of unique people. Some artists, some gamblers, some newspaper men, and some wealthy folks all made for an interesting mix of friends. It was an unusual place to grow up in. Always dark rooms filled with smoke and the greatest music.

I don't remember too much about their divorce except that our lives changed once again and we moved on.

What was I thinking?

It is the middle of the night and I have not fallen to sleep yet. I am on my third day of not sleeping because I thought I could stop taking my medicine for restless leg. I was wrong. I think I have more control over my body and mind so occasionally I will stop taking medicines. I hate taking medicine all the time. I like to try alternative therapy.

I have been going to a chiropractor for my knee and related problems. I have been so excited and in my efforts to attain a better and healthier life, I decided to go off my hormone replacement therapy. Maybe this was not a good idea? Or maybe quitting Dr. Pepper was the problem? Next I stopped my meds for my Restless Leg Syndrome.

What am I thinking? Tonight, or should I say this morning, I am not sure what I was thinking. I tend to be so intentional with my actions that often I regret those decisions. I tell myself I am stronger than the medicine. We will see?

The Queen's Meme #33 ~ The Spring Fling Meme

Spring has flung and fling has sprung. It is time to put your imaginary hat on and step outside the box into the world of fantasy. Spring! Love! Lust! Pheremones! Broken hearts! Dares! Parties! Beaches! Trips! The world of flinging! Ahh....the romance. Ahhh...the migraines.

Webster's defines a spring fling as: a short period of unrestrained pursuit of one's wishes or desires.

Star Light, Star Bright...

How many times as a child did I look at the evening sky and say those magical words...

"Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonight."
My wishes never came true.
But I can still dream.
Click on the photo to see all the picture. It is just awesome.

The Queen's Meme #32 ~ The Peep Peep Meme
Welcome to the Queen's Tuesday Meme #32

Sometimes silly.
Sometimes serious.
Always fun!
Step out of the box.
Be creative.
Use your imagination.
No one's answers are quite like you

Easter has come and gone. But I'll bet you have stories to tell! We present: The Peep Peep Meme. I feel a sugar rush coming on....

1. What does Easter mean to you (if that is not too personal)?

I love Easter and what is stands for. Easter is all about Christ who suffered and died for us on the cross and was resurrected Easter Sunday so that we could have life eternal.

2. When did you last go on an Easter egg hunt? Did you find anything?

That was a few years ago when my GRANDS were here for Easter and my birthday. Of course every year our church has a huge egg extravaganza for the children.

3. Your favorite celebrity is dressed up in a bunny outfit and about to jump out of a cake. Who is it?
Mmmmmm.....Let me think about it. OK! I want George Clooney to jump out of that cake, but not in a bunny outfit.

4. What is the most unusual thing you've ever done with Easter eggs?
Made egg salad and smeared it all over my body? Well, you did ask? It was a feast! Gotcha!

5. What's your favorite color of peeps?
I love the traditional color of my peeps and I want them to be yellow.

6. Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?
Do I look like I am three years old? Of course I believe in the Easter bunny. I just saw him last Saturday.

7. Imagine: You are invited to the White House for the annual Easter egg hunt. What surprise should President Obama put in each egg for the kids?
An IOU for all the money they and their generations to the 5Th are going to have to pay back for Obama Care.

8. What's your favorite kind of candy to eat at Easter?
Jelly beans, especially the green ones, then the red ones, then the orange ones and then the yellow ones.

9. Have you ever dyed eggs for Easter?
Duh? I was not born yesterday and of course I have dyed eggs for Easter. I hope you don't use just those plastic eggs?

10. You have just found a genuine Faberge egg (like the one pictured here) worth millions of dollars. Would you keep it or sell it for cash at auction? What would you do with the money?
Well, I think you know the answer to that question? I would sell it and give the money to a worthy cause.

11. Do you have an Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it?
Show us a picture of your hat.
We wore Easter bonnets when we were little kids and I can't find the picture. I am still missing a lot of things from our move last year. Oh, where could they be?

12. Please share any special Easter memories or traditions you have with us.
One of my favorite Easters was a few years back when my sons came home for Easter. The grow ups went to a concert and Hubs and I baby sat the Grands. We made Easter cookies, dyed eggs, decorated the eggs, made cupcakes with green icing grass and jelly beans. It was one of the best days ever. I loved every minute of it. I don't get to see them often especially on holidays, so I still cherish this memory.

The Simple Things of Life

Beautiful Bubbles...
Bubbles make me smile...

Bubbles are magical...

Bubbles are fun!

Why is it the simple things of life that we loved as children, we let fall to the way side of our youth?

I can't think of any one thing that brought more joy to me as a child than bubbles. So today, I bring you bubbles. There is something so beautiful about them. The way the float and glisten on the air. Giving rise to the wind. I wish they would last forever, but then if they did they would not be special. I am going to buy me some bubbles today. I think it will be good for my inner child.

Please enjoy today!

Blog Interview

Do any of you know what Blog Interview is? I received an email to submit information about my blog, which I did, but what really got me thinking is why do we read certain blogs? The blogs I follow are unique, sincere, funny, interesting and thought provoking. So many different reasons I follow that I can not even count.

What are your reasons for following a blog? In particular, my blog? I like to read a blog for a while before I follow it. Do you ever get followers that do not interact with your blog? I don't know why, but lately my followers count is up. Some leave a link to follow, but others nothing. Does that bother you when you can not connect with the follower? What do you do about it? Let me guess, I bet most of you don't worry about it. Remember I am fairly new to having followers, so it kind of makes me wonder why?

If you are a new follower, please let me know why you decided to follow my blog? While I am humbled to have followers, I still like to know who follows me.

Many thanks for answering my questions.
